Walking around with a camera will do that. Our maple in the front yard is what can only be described as Stop sign red. On a sunny day you need sunglasses it&#8217;s so bright.<\/p>\n<p>In another garden I came across another maple that could be a color match for a fire hydrant.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1853 size-full\" title=\"hydrantshrub\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/hydrantshrub.jpg\" alt=\"hydrantshrub\" width=\"600\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/hydrantshrub.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/hydrantshrub-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I found big maple leaves so red the color vibrated on our now green green grass. That&#8217;s one of my favourite benefits of living in a rainy place, the grass is green all winter.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1854 size-full\" title=\"red-leaves\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/red-leaves.jpg\" alt=\"red-leaves\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/red-leaves.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/red-leaves-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The crocosmia in our front garden glowed when the sun came out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1855 size-full\" title=\"crocosmia-close-up\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/crocosmia-close-up.jpg\" alt=\"crocosmia-close-up\" width=\"600\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/crocosmia-close-up.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/crocosmia-close-up-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And then the deeper red of this tree in the neighbourhood, it&#8217;s trunk full of the most lovely gray green moss.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1856 size-full\" title=\"red-tree-w-moss\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/red-tree-w-moss.jpg\" alt=\"red-tree-w-moss\" width=\"457\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/red-tree-w-moss.jpg 457w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/red-tree-w-moss-228x300.jpg 228w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But there are more colors out there, purples, like the deep purple maple leaves found in the park next to the house.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1866 size-full\" title=\"purple-leaf1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/purple-leaf1.jpg\" alt=\"purple-leaf1\" width=\"600\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/purple-leaf1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/purple-leaf1-300x241.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then there is the wine colored purple and green in these swirling and twisting Canna Lily leaves&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1867 size-full\" title=\"canna-lily-leaves\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/canna-lily-leaves.jpg\" alt=\"canna-lily-leaves\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/canna-lily-leaves.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/canna-lily-leaves-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Or the magenta of the Autumn Joy sedum now in it&#8217;s glory in the front garden.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1858 size-full\" title=\"autumn-joy-grn\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/autumn-joy-grn.jpg\" alt=\"autumn-joy-grn\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/autumn-joy-grn.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/autumn-joy-grn-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And then what did I see but the full transition of red to pink, which is, to me, really a summer color. But no, here it is glowing under the ferns in another garden in these tiny delicate cyclamen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1859 size-full\" title=\"tiny-cyclamen\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/tiny-cyclamen.jpg\" alt=\"tiny-cyclamen\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/tiny-cyclamen.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/tiny-cyclamen-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Or in my own garden, the gorgeous pink of the bergenia leaves as they change and die.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1860 size-full\" title=\"pink-bergenia-leaf\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/pink-berginea-leaf.jpg\" alt=\"pink-bergenia-leaf\" width=\"600\" height=\"486\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/pink-berginea-leaf.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.summerhouseart.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/pink-berginea-leaf-300x243.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But I leave you with the last color of the Hydrangea blooms, earlier in summer a periwinkle blue, and now, a lovely tint of magenta pink.
