This coming weekend, August 8th and 9th, we‘ll be participating in the Arts and Music at the Glendale Gardens. This will be our second time in this show and it’s quite a setting. For one thing there are all the various gardens like the Winter Garden, Mediterranean Garden, Ornamental Grasses Garden and Heather Garden just to name a few.

Gate to the Takata Japanese Garden
We’ve scored a wonderful spot in the Takata Japanese Garden right next to the gate.
We will be situated in front of a tranquil pond that is transversed by an arched bridge. Part of our site has a 100 year old Japanese Maple, its branches twisting rather gracefully, of course. How beautiful is that?

So we’ve been having an interesting time coming up with a good display for this spot that will really highlight the spot and our sculptures. We’ve been back and forth a couple of times taking measurements and planning. On our last visit we met the unusual resident cat, Samantha. Samantha sauntered along the path, barely acknowledging us and finally settled for a snooze under a bush, resting in the shade. There is actually a story on the Glendale Gardens site about the cats of the garden that is worth having a look at.
We’ll only be showing our sculptures at this show and not the mosaic which also makes a change from our usual display. This is our site from the beautiful arched bridge.

I’m looking forward to this show just for the feedback from the visitors. It’s always gratifying for an artist to get reactions to their work. I’ll be debuting my latest piece which oddly enough is quite Oriental, of a woman’s face surrounded by flowers as she meditates, eyes closed.
The gardens are full of interesting sites like this little colorful sculpture.

Alien bug invasion? (At least they're colorful)
On the weekend, the gardens will be filled with 60 artists displaying their work and as usual, we’ll be taking turns slipping away from our spot to meet as many artists as we can and get inspired by their displays. Plus there will be a tea garden, garden talks and many musicians throughout the two day show. So treat yourself to a special weekend, come and visit, grab a map at the gate and make the rounds to see all the gardens and the artists. And bring a friend!

Sorry we missed this!!! We were rescuing our tomatoes from that spell of dry weather… maybe next year… Thanks for letting people know though, this is a great way o keep your fans informed of arty garden events.
Hope the tomatoes are doing well and growing wildly. I had a pretty good time seeing all the other great artists at the show. The gardens are so beautiful and tranquil that seeing art there is better than a gallery. Of course, it doesn’t rain in galleries but hey, it only rained a tiny bit, really.
